The guillotine choke is a rapid and powerful front headlock submission commonly used in grappling. It is often applied when an opponent lowers their head during a takedown attempt or when transitioning from a defensive position. To execute the guillotine, quickly wrap one arm around the opponent's neck, ideally with your hand or forearm against their windpipe. Secure a tight grip by connecting your arms, and leverage your wrist bone against their neck. Apply pressure by squeezing your arms together and lifting upwards while using your body weight to constrict the carotid arteries and cut off blood flow to the brain. A properly applied guillotine choke can force a quick submission or cause a loss of consciousness.
