O Soto Guruma, translated as 'Major Outer Wheel,' is a dynamic throw that involves wrapping one leg around the opponent's leg while using a strong rotational force to throw them to the mat. It is similar to O Soto Gari but incorporates a more pronounced wheeling motion. To perform O Soto Guruma, establish a standard grip with one hand on the opponent's sleeve and the other on their lapel. Step forward with your lead leg and place it outside the opponent's leg, close to their foot. Simultaneously, wrap your other leg around the opponent's leg, hooking it from the outside. Use your upper body grips to pull the opponent towards you and break their balance while rotating your body in a wheeling motion. The combination of the leg wrap, rotational force, and pulling action generates a powerful throw that is difficult to defend against. This is not a particularly common technique, compared to similar throws.
