Ude Hishigi Ude Gatame, often referred to as the 'Straight Arm Lock' or 'Arm Crush', is a submission technique that focuses on hyperextending the opponent's elbow joint using a combination of arm control and body positioning. Unlike other arm locks that use the legs, hips, or armpit to generate leverage, this technique primarily relies on using your arms to isolate and extend the opponent's arm. To perform Ude Hishigi Ude Gatame, secure control of the opponent's arm, typically by gripping their wrist or forearm with one hand. Use your other hand to reinforce the grip and prevent them from escaping. Position your body perpendicular to the opponent's arm and use your arms to extend their elbow joint beyond its normal range of motion. Apply pressure by straightening your arms and leaning your body weight into the lock, forcing a submission due to hyperextension. Depending on the angle and position it may sometimes be referred to as an arm crush or a bicep slicer. This is because although the elbow is the intended target the muscles of the arm may also be affected.
