Ude Hishigi Waki Gatame, often called the 'Armpit Arm Lock,' is a submission technique that involves using your armpit to trap and apply pressure to the opponent's elbow joint, forcing a hyperextension. It is typically used when you have control of the opponent's back or when they are in a turtle position. To perform Ude Hishigi Waki Gatame, secure control of the opponent's arm by trapping it in your armpit, with your upper arm pressing against their elbow joint and your forearm controlling their wrist or forearm. Position your body perpendicular to the opponent's arm and use your body weight to apply downward pressure on their elbow while simultaneously lifting their wrist. This combination of pressure and leverage creates a powerful arm lock that can force a submission. Due to the nature of the position this technique may result in injury if applied without care. It is now generally considered illegal in judo competition.
